Friends,

It's over and what a wonderful victory! I praise God for the tremendous turnout! Appreciation to all my District 3 Campaign Supporters

Hello Everyone,

Well folks we are finally getting close to the election finish line, I cannot express strong enough my appreciation for all of you who have continued to give of yourselves to help this campaign and joint vision we share. The last several weeks have seen me attending many one-on-one group meetings and radio shows. I continue to be impressed by the feedback I receive when going door to door. Our District is more than willing to roll-up their sleeves for a better south Huntsville, it is a humbly experience to say the least. We continue to focus on running a clean issue oriented campaign, I thank each of you for keeping it that way. Let’s keep driving on and sharing the John O message. Don’t forget the election is the 5th of October.

Thank you,

Phase II - Olshefski Campaign Moving Forward

Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone enjoyed the last burst of summer (Labor Day) with family and friends. Sharon and I made the trip to South Caroline to watch the Citadel play in their season opener.

We had a great time recharging our batteries, but now are ready to meet, greet, and communicate again with our neighbors of District 3.

Given the budget problem that the city is facing, having someone like me that has dealt with such issues in the past as Garrison Commander is more important than ever.

In the coming weeks I plan to walk as many streets as my legs can take me, sharing my vision of south Huntsville and hearing your ideas. I look forwarding to seeing as many folks as I can, so I can earn your vote in the October 5th election.

Thanks

John O.

Thank you for your Vote

“All-I cannot express in words the great appreciation I have for all of you that voted for me yesterday. It was truly a humbling experience as I went from poll to poll taking to so many neighbors and fellow district 3 residents. We have another 6 weeks to go, but I am full of excitement at meeting more citizens , listening to concerns, and sharing my vision. We intend to keep this campaign clean and above board, the citizens deserve that much and my character demands it. Do not let the frustration of the campaign cause you to say or do anything negative, as it will reflect upon all of us….just keep smiling, life really is good.”

Thank you all,

John O.

Thank you for all your continued campaign support,

John O.

John Olshefski Picks Up Key Endorsement

–Huntsville Firefighters Believe Olshefski Right for District 3

Huntsville, AL -- The Huntsville Fire Fighters Association Local 1833 has endorsed John Olshefski for the District 3 Seat on the Huntsville City Council. The group cited Olshefski's strong commitment to public safety and his unique qualifications for the job based on his extensive management experience.
Marc Thrailkill, President of the Huntsville Fire Fighters Association, Local 1833, said, "Our endorsement of John Olshefski is based on his proven experience with public safety and his solid record of public service as the Redstone Garrison Commander. While in that position with the Army, he led 5 fire stations among other services, and we believe he has the knowledge based on experience to improve services for South Huntsville. We are also confident that he has the right plan for economic revitalization of District 3 and know he will be a council member that will make the right things happen for our working members.”
Olshefski responded, "I am honored to have the support of Huntsville's Fire Fighters. Together I believe we can work to move South Huntsville forward to benefit all of our residents."

Neighborhoods are First in my Book

Residents, family, friends—Whew, what a couple of weeks this has been. Although the weather has not gotten cooler, I am really enjoying the process of going door-to-door and meeting my fellow community members.

The one common thread I have learned is that each neighborhood is proud of where they live and extremely concerned about the erosion of their home investment and quality of life. I am confident that with my background I can get us pointed back in the right direction.

During the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to get advice from many of you that have attended the women meetings, coffees, and civic associations, I thank each of you for your words of wisdom and friendship extended. Keep spreading the word that this is one campaign where “Neighborhoods are 1st”.

Thanks--John

Ready for the Campaign Race

Just a short thank-you to all my friends, neighbors, and District 3 residents who joined me last week’s fund raiser and meet and greet. I enjoyed talking to each of you and look forward to seeing you along the campaign trail.

Well, I am now an official candidate and I must say it is a humbling experience. Having served my nation for so many years protecting our liberties and constitution, to now have the opportunity to serve my community, friends, and family is a great experience.

The coming weeks will see the sprouting of yard signs and the familiar sight of campaigners making their way in neighborhoods. Regardless of who you support, I hope you take the time to listen and participate in this great elective process. Our district truly is at a crossroads and I believe the solution is in focused leadership and communication/openness with the residents on a wide variety of issues that affect our quality of life. Thank-you for the support thus far and your prayers.

Thank-you for participating in our great system

“Well the primaries are over and now in many cases we head into the runoffs. Not all of my candidates won their race, but such is democracy. To each who asked for my vote during the past several months, I say thank-you for participating in our great system.”

Memorial Day

“This past Monday morning, Memorial Day, I had the rare privilege of meeting and thanking some of our Veterans from the Greatest Generation, it was truly a humbly event. For those whom have never been there when the Honor Flight taking veterans to the World War two memorial leave and return, I would highly recommend you not miss the chance as there is one remaining flight schedule for this September. Joe Fitzgerald, one of the key organizers, deserves the thanks of this entire community for the honor that he brought to these men and women veterans and the lessons we have all learned from their examples.”

Memorial Day

“ For the next few days I am taking some down time from the campaign to enjoy family and friends. Memorial Day is always a special day for me, as I recall so many of those I have served with that have given their all in defense of our great nation. I hope to attend the Cotton Row Run Monday in support of several friends that are participating in the race. It is always a uniquely fun event full of community spirit and patriotism. If you see me there, please say hello, I’d love to meet you.”

Latest Huntsville City Council - District 3 Campaign Up-date

Thought I would catch everyone up on the latest events from my campaign travels:

1) This past Saturday I was able to join the Huntsville Firefighters Local for their annual picnic. It was a great event and I was able to meet a lot of district 3 residents that are either firefighters or family of firefighters. I appreciate the Union President-Mark Thrailkill for inviting me and making me feel so welcomed. I look forward to meeting more city employees at future events, they really are what makes Huntsville such a great place to live and work.

2) I have been busy the last couple of weeks meeting folks from across the district-from Green Mountain to Ditto Landing. In each instance I have found hospitality, kindness, and a vast storehouse of ideas for our city and district.

3) I cannot express adequately the appreciation I have for all of you who came to the John Olshefski campaign announcement at Bell Mountain Park. It was a great event, aided by wonderful weather. The campaign is officially off and running and I look forward to the months ahead-meeting my neighbors and fellow district citizens.

4) The recent fundraiser that was sponsored by my boss and friend, was truly a humbling experience. To see so many Huntsville and district citizens give of their hard earned money to help me is something I will never forget. In the coming months and years I hope to have earned through actions, the confidence that many of you have in me.

Politics After Hours

“ Yesterday I attended both the BRAC and After Hours event sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center. I was able to meet many managers from businesses that have recently relocated to this area, I appreciate the time each of them took to discuss their impressions of the business environment here in the Tennessee Valley. The evening After Hours event was a fun time (how can you go wrong with hot dogs?), thank-you Tina Leopold of the Chamber for all your hard work in making the event a success and my campaign volunteers for helping greet our guests. Being able to talk with city leaders, business owners, and residents of South Huntsville in such a grand setting was wonderful.”

Proven Leader- Real Results

Quality of Life- We all choose to live in District 3 because in our neighborhoods we see an environment that allows our families to grow in prosperity, safety and happiness. To me it is the foundation of the community we call home. I promise to work every day, with every asset at my disposal, exploring all ideas, to bring value to our community and build a solid environment that allows us to enjoy every aspect of our lives.

Investment & Revitalization-Continuing to improve and maintain the infrastructure we now enjoy in District 3, requires a planned approach to maximize the resources that are already on hand. We cannot allow years of investment to be eroded, putting our quality of life at risk. I promise to unveil a district investment & revitalization blueprint, for the coming years, within 90 after being elected. This plan will include input from across the community and will be used to achieve the support required of other city and county leaders to make our plans a reality.

Accountability- Ensuring that citizens have full visibility of fiscal resources, and where they are being used, is a solemn obligation that I make and will remain answerable to. Only through an open exchange of information can trust be established and an open dialog as to future investments be made.
